Origins of the Legendary Kamado Bloodline
While Tanjiro isn‘t a direct descendant of the legendary swordsman Yoriichi Tsugikuni, his ancestor Sumiyoshi was saved by Yoriichi back in the day. After that fateful rescue, Sumiyoshi‘s family became close with Yoriichi, forging a bond between the Tsugikuni and Kamado lines.
So Tanjiro comes from an ancient Demon Slayer pedigree on both sides! No wonder Muzan has such an obsession with destroying his family…
Who Was Tanjiro‘s Dad – Tanjuro Kamado?
Tanjuro Kamado was known as a Hinokami Kagura dancer who could also use Sun Breathing combat techniques with deadly skill, similar to Tanjiro.

Why Muzan Targeted Tanjiro‘s Family
Muzan is desperate to crush anyone with ties to Yoriichi Tsugikuni after Yoriichi messed his face up hundreds of years ago. And Tanjiro‘s lineage leads back to that grudge.
But on top of past beef, my theory is Muzan also caught wind that the Kamados knew secrets of the elusive Blue Spider Lilies through their Demon Slayer ties.
So he probably ordered his goons to slaughter Tanjiro‘s family both for revenge AND to try unearthing more clues to the lilies himself! Devious as expected from the also beautifully-faced Demon King…
