Velgrynd – The Overlooked 5th True Dragon

As a passionate fan of That Time I Got Reincarnated as a Slime (Tensura), I‘m here to settle the debate on who exactly is the 5th True Dragon in this expansive fantasy world. While popular characters like Veldora and Milim Nava command the spotlight, one powerful Dragon has been overlooked – the fiery Velgrynd.

Velgrynd‘s Origins: Born After Veldanava‘s World Creation

Most Tensura fans know about Veldanava – the primordial Dragon and creator deity of the Tensura world. But few realize that Velgrynd and her siblings were the first beings born after Veldanava created the universe. She did not inherit her father‘s creation powers, but I would argue Velgrynd‘s mastery over heat and flames is just as impressive in its destructive potential.

Here‘s a quick timeline of when the key True Dragons were born:

  • 0 TE (True Era) – Veldanava creates the Tensura world
  • 1 TE – Velgrynd and her sister Velzard are born as Veldanava‘s first children
  • 10 TE – Velgrynd and Velzard‘s younger brother Velgaia is born
  • 100 TE – Guy Crimson is born, later becoming Demon Lord

So while Guy Crimson and even Milim Nava appeared much later, Velgrynd holds the prestigious title of the 5th eldest True Dragon. She was born shortly after the genesis of her father‘s new reality.

Velgrynd‘s Relationships: A Fiery Sister and Loyal Follower

While her age commands respect, Velgrynd‘s connections to her siblings and Guy Crimson reveal even more about her role in the world:

Dotting Older Sister

As the older sister to Velgaia, Velgrynd dotes on and protects her younger brother. Along with Velzard, she spoils him relentlessly even after he matures over the millennia. This shows her caring instinct that coexists with her destructive impulses.

Steadfast Server

Velgrynd also serves loyally under Guy Crimson as one of his closest aides. Guy‘s solitary nature means he keeps even his subordinates at a distance, but Velgrynd‘s allegiance never wavers. As Guy‘s Incineration Proxy, she has pledged to burn away all in his path.

So in many ways, Velgrynd plays the role of both doting older sister and faithful soldier. She demonstrates care for family and duty towards her master – personalities beyond just a violent monster.

Velgrynd‘s Powers: Flames That Surpass an Archdemon

Now onto Velgrynd‘s famous mastery over flames, which exceeds even the likes of Diablo and Milim:

  • As an Awakened Demon Lord, Diablo‘s hellfireManipulation is already top tier amongst Tensura characters.
  • But Velgrynd‘s pyrokinesis surpasses even his Archdemon flames in raw heat and intensity.
  • In fact, some claim only Veldanava could match her fire powers before his death.

Here are some of her notable skills:

  • Dragon Flame Envelop – Her entire body erupts in scorching True Dragon flames
  • Purgatory Flame Prison – Traps foes in an inescapable prison of fire
  • Even her unintentional outbursts can raze landscapes for miles

In my opinion, Velgrynd doesn‘t flaunt her strengths enough compared to flashier Dragons like Veldora or Milim. But make no mistake – her mastery over heat and flames is no less than a primordial force of nature.

By the Numbers: Velgrynd‘s Combat Power Scale

To give some numerical context, here is how Velgrynd measures up in combative power amongst her peers:

CharacterEP (Combat Power)
Guy Crimson10,000,000+
Velgrynd7,000,000
Velzard7,000,000
Zegion6,980,000
Milim Nava3,500,000

As we can see, Velgrynd occupies rarified air even amongst this elite group. She stands evenly matched with her sister Velzard while exceeding Demon Lords like Milim by a solid margin.

The only confirmed superior is her master, Guy Crimson. So while she pales against Guy or let‘s say current Rimuru, I would still crown Velgrynd as an upper echelon, top-tier character in terms of fighting capabilities. She deserves more attention as the 5th eldest Dragon sibling and Guy‘s fiery lieutenant!

The Overlooked Dragon: Velgrynd Deserves More Hype!

As an obsessed fan who‘s consumed all the Tensura content out there, I believe Velgrynd doesn‘t get the fanfare she rightly deserves. Sure, her unstable temperament makes her less prominent as a leader. But her backstory, relationships, and prowess contain so much rich potential in my view!

What are your thoughts on the fiery Velgrynd? Does this analysis change how you see the destructive yet caring 5th Dragon sibling? Let me know in the comments!
