Will PUBG make a PS5 version?

As an avid PUBG player and content creator, I am thrilled to share that PUBG Battlegrounds has received a major graphical upgrade on PS5 and Xbox Series X/S consoles! The upgrade launched in July 2022 alongside Update 18.2, bringing a wealth of visual enhancements and next-gen optimizations.

PS5 Version Supports 4K Resolution and 60 FPS Frame Rate

Most notably, the PS5 edition now supports up to 4K resolution and a smooth 60 frames per second frame rate. This is a massive improvement from the PS4‘s 1080p resolution and 30 FPS target, providing much sharper image quality and remarkably fluid gameplay.

Whether you‘re spotting distant enemies or tracking close-range targets, the boosted visual fidelity and performance empowers you to react quicker and gain an edge over your opponents.

Enhanced Anti-Aliasing Options

The PS5 release also introduces two anti-aliasing modes:

  • FXAA – Fast Approximate Anti-Aliasing smoothes jagged edges via post-processing. It has a minor performance impact, allowing you to prioritize frame rate.
  • TAA – Temporal Anti-Aliasing produces even cleaner edges by sampling across multiple frames. It‘s more demanding, so select this if visual quality is paramount.

Toggling between the two allows you to find the right balance for your gameplay style and priorities. You can enjoy crisp, clear visuals without drastically sacrificing performance.

DualSense Controller Further Heightens Immersion

Beyond the graphical overhaul, the DualSense‘s advanced haptics and adaptive triggers deepen the PS5 experience. Feel the dynamic recoil of weapons directly through the triggers as you lay down fire. The haptics convey the terrain underfoot, violent collisions, and the roar of the engine as you go careening across Miramar in a muscle car.

This engrossing feedback channels the danger and adrenaline of PUBG straight into your hands.

Free-To-Play Shift Expands Accessibility

In January 2022, PUBG shifted to a free-to-play model across all platforms, eliminating upfront payment barriers. This was rolled out in tandem with Update 17.2, which introduced a reworked user interface, tutorial system and more.

Converting to a F2P approach allows many more players to drop into the fierce and addictive battle royale chaos at no cost. This builds on PUBG‘s incredible momentum, topping over $9 billion in lifetime revenue and over $5 million per day on average according to Game World Observer.

As the barrier to entry vanishes, expect the player base to swell even further!

Rewards For Returning Veterans

For those who previously purchased PUBG prior to free-to-play, there are rewards for your loyalty and support over the years:

  • PUBG Special Commemorative Pack – Exclusive legendry cosmetics including masks, gloves and hats styled after the game‘s iconic level 3 helmets and vests
  • Battlegrounds Plus – $12.99 optional subscription for Ranked Mode, Custom Matches, 100% XP boost, 1300 G-Coins and more

It‘s fantastic to see veteran players recognized through these packs and bonuses. These iconic items will let you rep your PUBG dedication in-game for all to see!

The Future Looks Bright

With the major visual upgrade through 4K and 60 FPS support, more accessible free-to-play model, and rewards for veteran players – PUBG on PS5 has an incredibly strong foundation for the future.

I cannot wait to experience PUBG‘s trademark tactical action on my DualSense controller with the heightened immersion and smoother gameplay. This is an amazing time to squad up with friends new and old for chicken dinner glory!
