Contact me for: Colorado Family Law

I have practiced family law in Colorado and Kansas since 1977. My specialties include dissolution of marriage (divorce), collaborative law, conflict coaching for individuals, mediation, modification of child support, parenting time and parental responsibilities, as well as issues regarding paternity. In addition to working to ensure fair settlements in these cases, I also believe part of my role as an attorney is to educate my clients about the impact the law will have on their specific issues. I strive to help them understand the legal implications associated with their choices, and provide them with the information they need to make the best decisions for themselves and their families. As part of my role as an educator, as well as a senior attorney for the Firm, I offer a monthly Live Chat Session – see our website for details- to provide an overview of the divorce process in Colorado.I obtained my Juris Doctorate from the University of Wyoming College of Law, where I studied areas that include: family law, basic estate planning, landlord tenant law, and criminal law. After graduation, I became the Director of Student Legal Services at Colorado State University in Fort Collins. While teaching students about their legal rights, I also designed a course called “Families in the Legal Environment,” and taught that class for seven years. Following my time at CSU, I became a Clinical Professor at the University of Denver Sturm, College of Law in 1988, and instructed students how to practice law helping real clients with real cases. I currently serve on the Executive Council of the Family Law Section of the Colorado Bar Association and am a member of the Metropolitan Interdisiplinary Committee.Aside from my years of experience as an attorney and an educator, I also have a background in social work which is helpful especially in collaborative cases and mediation. When there are children involved, I do my best to help parents configure their family so that even though they are no longer living together, they can still interact as a family unit in order to raise children. As a part of my practice, I try to not only solve legal problems, but I also strive to respectfully help my clients move forward into the next phase of his or her life. I find that I can do this whether I am working in mediation, collaboration, or litigation.Outside of the practice of law, I have been a step-parent to my husband's 3 children for over 25 years, and I enjoy spending time with them and my grandchildren. I also enjoy gardening, camping, hiking and volunteering. For info about Denver Collaborative Law Professionals, please access their website at: http://www.denvercollaborativedivorce.org/
