Does the Black Ops 2 Deluxe Edition Include the Season Pass?

As a passionate Call of Duty gamer and content creator, I can definitively say the Call of Duty: Black Ops 2 Digital Deluxe Edition does in fact include the full Season Pass.

What‘s in the Black Ops 2 Season Pass?

The Season Pass provides access to all 4 DLC map packs released for Black Ops 2:

  • Revolution
  • Uprising
  • Vengeance
  • Apocalypse

It also includes the fan-favorite Nuketown Zombies bonus map.

Altogether, the Season Pass bundles:

  • 16 Multiplayer Maps
  • 4 Zombies Maps

Buying each DLC pack individually would cost $60. So the $50 Season Pass saves you $10 overall.

Here‘s a quick look at everything included:

As you can see, you get a ton of new maps spanning multiplayer and Zombies, plus 8 remastered maps from past Black Ops games.

How the Maps Play

Based on my experience with each DLC pack, Treyarch did an excellent job creating new maps that feel fresh while retaining that classic Black Ops style:

The Revolution maps have a great mix of tight spaces and long lines of sight for different combat ranges and strategies. Hydro and Grind lead to especially intense matches.

Uprising takes things in a more stylized direction with the retro Studio set and war-torn Magma. They complement Black Ops 2‘s fluid movement nicely.

Vengeance shifts to more environmental maps like the bayou area of Cove and the underground tunnels in Detour. Lots of verticality and alternative paths here.

And Apocalypse goes off the rails with the rocket launch pad on Takeoff, alien glyphs in Pod, and the giant robots on Origins! Some of my favorite moments in all of Black Ops 2 are in the later DLCs.

The bonus Nuketown Zombies map also can‘t be missed – it puts a new spin on a classic locale.

Here‘s some gameplay of me dominating on the Dig map from the Apocalypse pack:

And this shows just a hint of the Origins zombies insanity:

Suffice to say, I‘ve gotten way more than $50 of value out of the maps alone. Plus it will keep hardcore fans busy mastering strategies for each new environment.

How Other Call of Duty Games Handle DLC

Most other Call of Duty titles make you purchase the Season Pass separately. Only a few special editions include it automatically.

For example, Call of Duty: Black Ops 3 has a Season Pass that gives you the Giant zombies map plus 4 DLC packs. But it‘s an extra $50 – none of the base editions bundle it.

Whereas the Black Ops 2 Hardened, Care Package, and Digital Deluxe editions incorporate the Season Pass by default. Obviously the latter being the most affordable way to go.

And this trend holds for all recent entries too. Black Ops 4, Modern Warfare (2019), Cold War, Vanguard – they make you spend another $40-$50 to access the post-launch content through Passes.

So if you‘re a true fan who plans on playing all the DLC, Black Ops 2 actually hooks you up with the best overall package!

The Verdict: 100% Worth Buying the Deluxe Edition

In summary, Call of Duty: Black Ops 2‘s Digital Deluxe Edition provides tremendous value by packing in the full Season Pass.

You get a sizable collection of maps that build on the core game in exciting ways, plus save at least $10 relative to purchasing DLC separately. For the hardcore fans, it‘s absolutely the ideal version to own even here in 2024.

So if you‘re still gaming on Xbox 360 or PS3, I couldn‘t recommend picking up the Digital Deluxe Edition more. It‘s hands down the definitive way to experience everything Treyarch put out for Black Ops 2!
