Does The Division 2 Have Crossplay in 2024?

As a passionate gamer and content creator in the world of multiplayer titles, one question I get asked a lot recently is: does The Division 2 have crossplay support?

Well, I have good news and bad news. The good – yes there is limited crossplay in The Division 2 between some platforms. But the downside is that full crossplay between all systems is not yet available.

Let me break down exactly what‘s supported:

PC and Stadia Crossplay

The Division 2 does allow crossplay between PC and Stadia. This cross-generation play enables matchmaking and connecting with players on either platform by default.

So if you game on PC or Stadia, you can directly join up with agents from the other ecosystem in co-op missions or Dark Zone runs. This makes it nice and easy to team up with your friends that might be on the other system.

What About PlayStation and Xbox?

Now for the bad news if you‘re on console – neither PlayStation nor Xbox platforms support direct crossplay with other devices at this time.

That means PlayStation 4 and PlayStation 5 players can group up together. And Xbox One and Xbox Series X users can co-op or face-off in Conflict PVP.

But there is currently no way for PlayStation network users to directly matchmake or interact with Xbox gamers. Each console ecosystem is still split when it comes to The Division 2‘s multiplayer.

Cross-Progression Available

On a positive note, The Division 2 does allow cross-progression carrying over your agent‘s progression and unlocked items across some systems via your Ubisoft account.

This means you can move your character between say Xbox and PC or vice versa, continuing progression on one or the other. However again this functionality does not extend across all platforms:

PlatformCross-Progression With
PCStadia, Xbox
StadiaPC, Xbox
XboxPC, Stadia
PlayStationNone (Currently)

So PlayStation lags behind when it comes to transferring progression at this point in time unfortunately.

Community Hopes for Expanded Crossplay

The Division 2 community on Reddit and forums has been quite vocal about wanting expanded crossplay capabilities after seeing success in other franchises like Call of Duty and Destiny 2.

And there have been hints from Ubisoft that they want to improve crossplay functionality moving forward. However nothing has been officially confirmed yet regarding updates or timing from the developers.

We‘ll have to wait and see if expanded support allowing all ecosystems to connect eventually manifests down the road. But as of now in early 2023, options remain limited.

Crossplay Status in Related Games

To give some comparison points, here is how crossplay support stands in other Ubisoft titles currently:

  • Rainbow Six Siege: Full crossplay between PC and cloud streaming
  • Roller Champions: Crossplay between PC and consoles
  • Skull and Bones: Will supposedly have crossplay when it launches

And for the wider industry:

  • Call of Duty: Now has full crossplay between PlayStation, Xbox, PC, and cloud streaming
  • Destiny 2: Also has complete crossplay between all major platforms after the addition of PlayStation recently

So we can hope those are the blueprints The Division franchise ends up following going forward!

My Take as a Content Creator

As someone that creates a lot of gaming content and likes to squad up with my community, limited crossplay in The Division 2 has been frustrating.

I‘d love to be able to openly group up with my PC, Xbox, and PlayStation followers at once like I can in something similar like Apex Legends. But the fractured matchmaking pools has made that challenging.

Hopefully someday soon a more unified crossplay environment comes to The Division franchise. I think it would really bolster the multiplayer community and help activity substantially! There are so many cool agents in this game‘s world across all platforms that deserve to be able to play together openly.

For now, enjoy linking up within your individual ecosystems Agents. And hopefully expanded support isn‘t too far off on the horizon!

Let me know if you have any other The Division 2 crossplay questions in the comments! I‘m happy to provide updates if any functionality changes happen down the road.
