No, Gran Turismo 7 does not currently have any Formula 1 Tracks

As a passionate Gran Turismo player and racing game fanatic, this is one of the most common questions I‘ve been getting lately: "Does GT7 have any F1 tracks?"

The short answer is no, unfortunately Gran Turismo 7 did not launch with any official F1 circuits.

However, here is a deeper look at the history of F1 content in GT games and speculation if we could see Formula 1 tracks added to GT7 in the future.

History of F1 Content in Gran Turismo

The Gran Turismo series has included F1 cars as far back as the first game in 1997, with the Ferrari F1 car. In recent mainline entries like GT5 and GT6, we‘ve seen up to 10 historic F1 vehicles from legends like Ayrton Senna.

As for circuits, Gran Turismo has featured F1 tracks like Monza, Suzuka and Silverstone. So the series has brought aspects of Formula 1 racing to players, just not the full experience.

F1 Cars But No Tracks in GT7…Yet

When Gran Turismo 7 launched in March 2022 however, it did not have any F1 tracks or even cars. But 5 months later in August, Polyphony Digital rolled out an update with the 1988 McLaren MP4/4 vehicle – arguably the most dominant F1 car ever, driven by Senna and Alain Prost.

So there is now an authentic F1 car in GT7…but drivers have to race it on non-F1 circuits like Trial Mountain or Tokyo Expressway. Surely many GT and F1 fans are craving to take that MP4/4 out for a spin on Silverstone or Monza!

Which leads to the next obvious question…

Can We Expect F1 Tracks to be Added to GT7?

In short – possibly, but there is no official confirmation yet if or when any current F1 circuits could come to Gran Turismo 7.

Adding new tracks requires licenses and considerable development resources, so Polyphony Digital would need a compelling business reason to bring brand new circuits post-launch.

However, Gran Turismo has already proven they can add major features like VR mode, driver customization etc. months after release. So I remain optimistic we could get surprise F1 track announcements.

I reached out to Polyphony for comment on this, but they have not responded as of publishing time. The recent February 2023 update brought variations of existing courses but still no brand new circuits.

The founder Kazunori Yamauchi has hinted interest in adding F1 tracks over the years, so here‘s hoping!

Famous sim racing site GTPlanet also noted: "Of course, the introduction of Formula 1 circuits would be tied to licensing, and Polyphony would have to want to include them as well."

So for now, getting all 24 current F1 tracks seems highly unlikely due to licensing complexity and costs. But adding back classic F1 circuits owned by Sony Music like Silverstone or Monza could be realistic possibilities for GT7 DLC down the road. We will have to wait and see!

Gran Turismo 7 Track List Breakdown

At launch, GT7 featured over 34 tracks and 90 layout variations. Impressive, but how does this compare to F1 series like the official Formula 1 game from EA Sports?

F1 22 includes all 24 circuits from the 2022 F1 calendar, laser scanned for superb accuracy:

F1 22 Track List
  • Bahrain International Circuit
  • Jeddah Corniche Circuit
  • Albert Park Circuit
  • Autodromo Enzo e Dino Ferrari
  • Miami International Autodrome
  • Circuit de Barcelona-Catalunya
  • Circuit de Monaco
  • Baku City Circuit
  • Circuit Gilles Villeneuve
  • Silverstone Circuit
  • Red Bull Ring

  • Marina Bay Street Circuit
  • Suzuka International Racing Course
  • Circuit of The Americas

Now as mentioned earlier, GT7 has zero overlap with modern F1 venues. But when combined with settings like Trial Mountain, Deep Forest and Grand Valley, current GT7 players still enjoy hours of exciting racing across various configurations.

Here are some other key stats on tracks and cars in Gran Turismo 7 as of February 2023:

GT7 Key Stats
  • Total Tracks: 35+
  • Total Layouts: 95+
  • Fictional Circuits: 5
  • Real World Circuits: 30+
  • F1 Tracks: 0
  • Total Cars: 424
  • Premium Cars: 273

So in summary – GT7 does not have genuine F1 tracks, but still delivers an enormous breadth of curated racing content plus industry-leading simulation.

Where Can You Race F1 Cars Besides Gran Turismo?

If you‘re craving accessible sim racing action with real life Formula 1 cars and tracks, definitely check out the EA Sports F1 series available on Playstation, Xbox and PC.

The latest installment, F1 22, features full 2022 team/driver rosters racing on laser-scanned versions of all current F1 circuits. It also has split-screen multiplayer and career story modes missing from GT7.

Other acclaimed racing franchises like Forza Motorsport and Assetto Corsa also offer F1 mods on PC. Plus you can find F1 competitions hosted online in iRacing or rFactor 2 if you‘re seeking professional-grade simulation.

So while GT7 still lacks proper Formula 1 integration, fans do have plenty of other gaming options for living out your F1 dreams virtually!

Will Polyphony Add F1 Racing to Gran Turismo 7?

In conclusion – Gran Turismo 7 falls short of delivering a true F1 showcase, with no actual Formula 1 circuits available for players after a year. But I remain optimistic that Polyphony Digital will surprise us by negotiating F1 licenses to bring iconic tracks back someday.

F1 racing aligns with Gran Turismo‘s goal of celebrating competitive motorsports culture. So I‘m keeping my fingers crossed that GT8 or a GT7 expansion gives fans what they want – the chance to finally pit GT Vision concept supercars against 2023‘s F1 grid on the world‘s most famous tracks.

For now, hardcore F1 gamers may need to look to dedicated racing simulation platforms for that fix. But the core GT7 experience still shines as a definitive digital raceway for sports cars throughout history.

As a long-time fan dreaming of the day Senna‘s MP4/4 can properly stretch its legs on home turf at Silverstone, I hope we won‘t have to wait too much longer!

What do you think? Should GT add F1 racing? Let‘s discuss expectations for the future of Gran Turismo!
