The Origins of Angel/Demon Offspring
The beginnings of the Nephalem trace back to a rogue angel named Inarius who dared to question the High Heavens. After leaving behind celestial politics, Inarius encountered Lilith, Mephisto‘s daughter who equally yearned for escape. What started as mutual curiosity sparked into affection against all odds.
Inarius then combined his angelic power with Lilith‘s demonic gifts to create a world they could rule together without interference – this would become Sanctuary. Their first offspring possessed tremendous strength – unmatched by any single angel or demon. Yet over generations, the Nephalem bloodline diluted and their abilities faded…until Diablo 3.

In Diablo 3, the player assumes the role of a later generation Nephalem. While starting off seemingly ordinary, your incredible latent powers are jumpstarted when the fallen star impacts the cathedral. With each Act, your reputation and burgeoning skills grow in parallel until you possess enough raw might to confront the Lords of Hell themselves.
