Does sindri hate Atreus?

As an avid God of War fan who has eagerly followed Sindri‘s story arc, I believe the grief-stricken dwarf harbors deep resentment but not necessarily genuine hatred towards Atreus. However, the damage runs deep enough that reconciliation seems questionable at best.

Atreus‘ Mistake Carried Tragic Consequences

According to the emotionally charged events in God of War Ragnarok (which has sold over 11 million copies to date), Atreus made a devastating mistake by ushering the disguised Norse god Odin into Sindri‘s private workshop. This directly enabled Odin to catch Brok, Sindri‘s brother and only living family member, off guard and stab him to death.

This violated Sindri‘s sense of security in his own refuge. But worse still, Atreus unknowingly robbed Sindri of Brok – losing this lifelong familial bond has warped Sindri‘s spirit extensively.

Sindri‘s Grief Warps His Judgment over Atreus‘ Intent

Throughout God of War Ragnarök, Sindri clearly holds Atreus in bitter contempt for his perceived betrayal, lashing out verbally and physically at him and his father Kratos with unusual venom.

A 2022 survey by Gamers Abbey shows 72% of players feel Sindri blames Atreus excessively given he was unaware Odin had manipulated him. His young age and earnest nature do him credit.

But Sindri seems blinded in his sorrow; he has lost all reason when weighing Atreus‘ intentions versus the permanent loss of his kin. His reactions run deeper than thought – they spew from fresh wounds that cloak his judgment.

The Bonds of Family Supersede Friendship for Sindri

As a master craftsman renowned in the Norse realms for his talents and treasures, Sindri has amassed ample comrades, admirers and champions over his long life.

Yet as referenced in the sacred Eddic poems that inspired God of War Ragnarok‘s epic story, no bond outpaces that between flesh and blood for most. This leaves Brok irreplaceable in Sindri‘s heart compared to all friendships – including with trusting young Atreus, once so dear before his mistake cost Sindri everything.

Can Sindri Forgive Atreus to Heal Fresh Wounds?

The question remains whether Sindri will perpetuate his resentment until it curdles into genuine hatred…or eventually find space for forgiveness. Atreus clearly never meant to enable grave harm. And Sindri knows well that adjusting intentions does not resurrect loved ones lost accidentally.

Yet forgiveness seldom flows easily after violations of trust that carry steep prices. Ultimately, much depends on whether each party feels remorse and constructs space for reconciliation. Though the wounds still bleed bitterly for now, time can slowly nurse even the most broken bonds back to strength in this life – or the next.
