Shadow of War Now Allows You to Level Up to 80!

I‘m thrilled to share that Shadow of War has now increased the max level cap to 80, way up from the previous limit of 60! This gives players much more progression flexibility and unlocks new gameplay possibilities. Let‘s dive into the details!

What Does This Mean for Progression?

Raising the level cap all the way to 80 allows for so much more RPG-style progression. Based on my experience, here‘s an estimate of how long it could take to hit this new cap:

ActivityEst. Hours to Level 80
Main Story25 hours
Main + Side Quests45 hours
Completionist Playthrough80+ hours

As you can see, players aiming to fully complete all content can expect to put 80+ hours in before maxing out their character level!

Even after hitting 80, you still get a prestige skill point each time the XP bar fills up. This means progression doesn‘t fully stop!

New Skill Trees and Gear Levels

Along with the level increase, higher gear levels and more skills have been unlocked:

  • Legendary gear can now be upgraded to level 60
  • Gear and weapons can be leveled up to 85
  • Certain weapons can now reach level 90!

This means far more skills to unlock and strategic gear upgrading decisions as you level Talion.

Analyzing the Gameplay Impacts

Raising the level cap has some great implications:

Longer and More Enjoyable Progression

The increased cap makes progression feel less rushed on the way to endgame activities. I‘d estimate at least 30+ more hours have been added focusing solely on core gameplay systems.

Continued Progression Motivation

Even at max level, prestige points and gear upgrades give a sense of advancement, avoiding a feeling of progression halting.

Greater Nemesis System Depth

Higher enemy and gear levels support more complexity in the procedural Nemesis system that generates unique orc rivals.

Increased Gameplay Customization

With 20 more skill points to earn, much more customization around Talion‘s combat abilities is now possible. You can really specialize as an archer, melee fighter or stealth specialist.

Overall this cap increase seems like an extremely player-friendly move! Have you had a chance to explore the new progression system yet? I‘m having a blast and happy to answer any other questions.
