What is the story of ARK in order?
The story of ARK chronicles humanity‘s attempt to survive and rebuild after catastrophic events and corruption by Element destroyed life on Earth. Players explore Arks, ships designed to outlast the devastation carrying supplies, wildlife, and data from Earth into space. Each Ark world progresses the story and mystery further while advancing technology needed to someday reclaim Earth.
The Island – Establishing Life
As the first known Ark carrying creatures and technology from Earth, The Island establishes the template for rebuilding civilization. Survivors awake with no memory of how they arrived but find explorer notes from those who came before that shed light on Project ARK‘s goals.
Defeating the guardians – Broodmother, Megapithecus, Dragon, and Overseer – unlocks secrets of the ship while supplying the means to spread life anew. It‘s revealed that more Arks exist with further pieces needed to understand what doomed humanity on Earth.

Scorched Earth – Discovering the Corruption

With the landscape turned barren and new threats like electrical storms, survivors must adapt to the harsh conditions while battling a climate-twisting primal formed of Element itself.
Unencumbered by the Desert Titan, secrets hidden in ruins reveal what the corruption does and hints at an overlooked creature with immunity worth pursuing as the key to salvation.

Aberration – Harnessing Element
Descending down into Aberration‘s interconnected underground layers offers a closer look at Element in its raw, uncorrupted form – a potent energy source with terraforming and mutative effects on creatures exposed to it.
Seeking to retain humanity in such mutations, explorer Diana‘s notes guide survivors to subdue the fertile, nurishing landscape controlled by the tyrannical Rockwell. Mastering devices that harness Element directly paves the way for advancing technology while learning that Element‘s true purpose was healing planet Earth originally.

Extinction – Titan Warfare
Ark survivors return to Earth on Extinction but find it corrupted beyond habitation by Titan battles, the Element they wield as weapons poisoning landscapes globally. Worse still, the final Omega Titan plans to exterminate all natural life with element-fueled tech implants.
To buy time and save Earth‘s remaining species, ARKmind – an AI assistant – guides efforts to defeat the Desert, Forest and Ice Titans. Mastering their unique power sources paves the road to challenging the King Titan directly by cutting off his orbital laser tech. Victory eliminates the titans but much work remains reviving Earth.

Genesis – Discovering ARK Origins
Travelling through simulation bubbles in Genesis Part 1, survivors experience fabricated recreations of Earth‘s primordial eras and locations, from arctic to arid deserts. Diverse artificial biomes house complex high-tech planets harvesting data on adaptation tactics to heal corruption globally.
Pursuing notes from an ARK systems designer named HLN-A reveals simulations exist to rebuild societies safely while testing methods to restore ecosystems and remove threats. But the most startling secret shows element itself originates from an epic battle with an otherworldly god-like being who shattered an ancient advanced civilization.

Where To Next?
Genesis Part 2 continues the simulation story in summer 2022 with a new ARK designer named Sir Edmund Rockwell taking charge. Goals center on gathering enough data across sufficient biomes to restore natural order very soon.
My theory is that defeating all needed simulations will unlock a path back to fully reboot life on a newly-cleansed Earth free of corruption and Titans. With enough diversity scanned and technology mastered across the Arks, humanity may soon come full circle back to our original home ready for a fresh start!
Across Aberration, Extinction, and Genesis especially, several burning questions remain unanswered:
- What extra-dimensional being or ancient human civilization battled and shattered so long ago?
- Was controlling element as a terraforming energy source part of their lost high technology?
